TERKKU Hanke-Health promotion event

Terkku Hanke is a Moniheli project funded by STEA, which aims to develop culturally sensitive outreach models to prevent non-communicable diseases among immigrants from Africa and Middle Eastern countries. As part of the TERKKU Hanke, Nursing degree students from Laurea University, in collaboration with HEED Finland, planned and implemented a well-being event on 10.6.2022. Over 150 participants attended the event, during which they were provided free health checks (haemoglobin, blood sugar, blood pressure, cholesterol, BMI, and body composition test) and guidance on important health promotion topics, including diet and exercise, vitamin D. Participants also enjoyed free healthy snack during the event. Participants gave excellent feedback and expressed the need for more of such events in the future.
